SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship is for General Education Students pursuing a career in Special Education or a related field (i.e. Special Education, Psychology, Music Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Sociology, Recreational Therapy).

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students. Amounts and numbers of Scholarships will vary from year to year as funds are available. Scholarship minimums will be $500.00. Students will be selected as finalists on the basis of their academic accomplishments, creative distinctions, and extra-curricular activities. The committee will also select students who contribute to the inclusion of the community and academic life of children with special needs. The committee looks for qualities such as intelligence, self-reliance, energy, imagination, originality, and concern for others. There are two parts to the application process - the application form and two letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation can be from a teacher, counselor, administrator, or a person who can objectively assess your abilities and character.

Scholarship Application Deadline:

Scholarships and recommendation letters must be postmarked no later than February 15.

Notification and Payment:

Notification of Scholarship recipients will be made by April 1, each year. Recipients will be expected to remit a letter of acceptance from the school they intend to attend. Payment of Scholarships will be distributed directly to schools/universities upon receipt of enrollment verification. All Scholarships must be submitted for payment/distribution prior to October 1, of each year or will be forfeited.
